We have been struck with a heartbreaking announcement on the passing of a legendary cowboy singer! Glen Campbell has passed away at 81- years-old. He had battled Alzheimer’s for quite some time.
A statement released by his family revealed: “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather.”
In 2011, the singer had first announced the diagnosis. Since then, his condition had continued to worsen. He built a career and a name for himself in the music industry as one of the top session guitarists in Los Angeles, working for a number of well-known artists such as Phil Spector and Brian Wilson, before finding his own passion and building his fame with hits such as Gentle on My Mind and By the Time I Get to Phoenix.
With his great success in the music industry, his home life was not a success. He found himself involved in alcohol, drugs, and finally, divorce. This is what brought him down to his knees.
Just a short few months back, his condition turned for the worst as it was announced that he had been taken to the hospital.
With his passing, it is felt in the hearts of millions. His memory and his legacy will live on forever. Please pray for the family and friends of Glen Campbell!
