After North Korea announced that they would be planning to shoot a missile at Guam, North Korea found out who would step up and support President Trump and help protect the U.S.. Japan has made it clear that they will offer their protection to the U.S. by shooting down any missiles launched by the North.
Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera has stated during a session of Japan’s parliament this Thursday that their military would activate its Aegis destroyer missile defense system with the goal of defending Guam if it ever comes to an missile launch, as they would also consider it as a threat to Japan.
This is not the first time North Korea has threatened Guam, as the territory lies only 2,100 miles away from the Korean Peninsula. Guam supports several thousands of U.S. troops as well as Andersen Air Force Base and Naval Base Guam.
As North Korea and the U.S. continue to have increased tension, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson attempts to calm citizens that the U.S. does not feel North Korea is a threat and that our military can overpower the nation and their dictator.
